Web Marketing
We frequently advise customers that building a web site is only about half of the
effort involved in having a successful web presence. The second half is marketing.
We encourage web site owners to get involved to whatever extent that they feel
comfortable. We will assist in the process at any level – we’ll do anything from
teaching you what to do to managing the whole process for you.
So what is web marketing? What needs to be done? Good question. Let’s start with a
basic study of what happens on a Google search results page. We'll use one of my favorite
search terms - "Computer Bradenton"
This images shows the left side of the results page. This is the "organic results". The
organic results are the search results that are returned naturally, because of the
content on the page. In order to get good placement for this search term, we try to
include information on one of our web site pages that is directly relevant to this
term. In other words, we try to place the phrase "Computer Bradenton" on this page
as ofter as possible. There are several other factors that make up what makes a
page rank higher than another, another would be other web pages that link to this
page. If other web pages link to this one, then this page is an authority on the
subject and should be ranked higher.

Also notice the shaded area at the top of the page where the 'Digital Doctors' link is. That area
is for sponsors. Obviously, that sought-after position is not inexpensive.
On the right side of the page are the 'pay per click' ads. As the term implies, the
advertiser is charged a fee each time the link is clicked. Since "bradenton computer" is not
a real hot bed of commerce, the charge for each click is about $.05. For a business like
4Penny.net, that is an excellent value. With an advertising budget of $100.00/month, that
would bring a potential of 2,000 customers to the site each month. If even 1% of that
number became new clients... you get my point.
Now, if you we trying to bid on a search phrase that was highly contested, say "Bradenton
Real Estate", you would expect to pay $2-5.00 per click. It's a bid system, the price goes
as high as someone is willing to pay.

The organic results (the left side) are volitile and change day to day. One day we'll be
the first listing, some days we're 8th or 10th. Most days we're in the top 5. No reputable
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) firm will guarantee placement, it's not possible. But
we're pretty good at it.
The results on the left are much easier to achieve results in because the positions are bid
on.
